Babyklingon had a ball yesterday.

On a tip off we went down to the Ashmolean after school, where they were filming Lewis.

Now, her emotions are hard to read and we had to keep walking past until she asked what they were doing - filming in the museum library. Then she walked away and said she was happy just seeing the trucks and knowing they were filming. She also said she didn't want to meet the guys in case they were a disappointment.

We got to the coach station loos and she burst into messy tears - she doesn't do tears normally, she does rocking, wailing, banging her head and hitting me, so I knew this was bad.

She wanted to see them, but she was shy and Mummy was shy and...

I asked "What do you want?"

"For you to say can your daughter have an autograph, she's shy and autistic and can't ask herself." So I did. We were told Mr. Whately would be out at seven and this was ten to six, but we waiting and she didn't climb walls or anything, she was the most patient and still she has ever been.

We heard them say it was a wrap so she waited at the gates but he walked past without her noticing and then she saw and leapt in front of him saying "Sir, can I have your autograph please?"

He was really sweet and said "Of course, love, what's your name?"

He touched her elbow and said goodbye love and got in the car which then disapperated into thin air (so it seemed).

He was still in Lewis' clothes.

BK said this: "His aura was huge, so big you were in it to. You know when everything is wrong and you need to bang your head you couldn't do it in his aura. He is everything good like home and apple pie and warmth and makes everything safe."

So, one happy daughter. BTW, that is an amazing amount of emotional discussion for her!

We got back home and our local cinema was showing The Rocky Horror Picture Show for Halloween. it was a 12A, which surprised me. BK has always wanted to see Rocky Horror. I knew she wouldn't sleep after meeting the lovely Mr. Whately, so we went, at the front (wheelchair - duh!) and behind us said a whole load of people in costume so we were showeed with water and rice and hey, she got up for the last part of the Time Warp at the front :)

Two wishes coming true the very day that marks the anniversary when it all went pair shaped with primary schools and all the rest of the shit we have been through to get where we are today, autism recognised and supported in school...

Well, I say a year ago, the previous term in Y5 had been impossible, with her banging her head, hitting me and wrecking furniture after school after school for up to 6 hours and threatening suicide every morning. then, a year ago, day 1, term 2, Y5, she just told me to fuck off and beat me up and I had had enough... hence the home schooling until secondary school. And here she is, contented and beginning to be emotionally a tiny bit articulate and doing GCSE maths and meeting Kevin Whately and crying not self harming or beating me up :)

I seriously pray this is a start of a better year. I will try to leave the bitterness towards the GP and social workers and new headteacher with their complete lack of knowlege og autism or ME/CFS behind me and move on.

Don't dream it, be it....

That's wonderful news, I'm so, so glad he proved to be what you'd hoped for. :) And Rocky Horror Picture Show rocks on so many levels. *crosses fingers again* Let's hope for the best! :)

I am SO excited and happy for both of you! It sounds like Kevin Whately was absolutely wonderful to meet. I hope if/when the day comes when I am fortunate enough to get to meet him, I can handle myself as well as BK did! How exciting, though! :D

Rocky Horror is always a blast to watch - it would be even more awesome to watch it amongst fans, I can imagine! :D

I'm sorry I never got a chance to properly reply, but thankyou SO much for your kind comments during the past couple of weeks. It really meant a lot. I had a fantastic time being back on the stage, and now I just can't wait until next semester where I can (hopefully) do it all again. All of the shows went off without any major hitches, and I seem to have made a good impression on some people, so hopefully this is a step to bigger roles! (Wouldn't it be awesome if someday I got to act with the wonderful Mr Whately... only in my wildest dreams of course, but it would be EPIC!) :D :D :D

Delighted for you both. So glad that KW wasn't a disappointment and huge hugs to BK for handling it so well.

Here's to the next year - and a better one.
